Newborn babies are so much fun to work with. With all that fun and excitement going on I usually get peed on sometime in the process but it is well worth all the work. These two little guys are both close to my heart. One is my nephew and the other one is my friend's new baby. I am so thankful to have been around to capture both these little guys within their first few weeks.

H is for Happy Couple and this couple sure is happy. They are going to be married in May and are looking forward to spending eternity together. This is my brother and his soon to be wife. In the LDS religion children have the opportunity to choose to be baptized at the age of 8 years old. This choice marks the acceptance and membership into the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints. It also symbolizes a commitment to live your life as an example of Christ.

These two beautiful friends turned 8 years old, around the same time, and made the choice to be baptized. To remember this special day they decided to do a fun photo shoot together.

Graduation day is going to be here before we know it for this years Seniors!!!

The nice part about living in new places is embracing the scenery. Here in Arizona many people don't take advantage of the beauty of the desert. I loved it when this wonderful couple said they would be willing to do a shoot in the middle of nowhere. It turned out awesome!!! Thanks guys.

It always amazes me to watch families grow and change with time. Being a photographer captures those changes and fun moments along the way. I have known this family for awhile now and they are truly a wonderful group. I think you can see the respect and love they have for one another in these photos. Life is too short not to have a bit of fun now and then... So I was naturally excited when these two great people contacted me in order to set up this shoot. The idea was to capture a silly Christmas Card type of photo without taking things too seriously. We had a great time at the park decorating random trees, as well as dressing up and just having an all around awesome time. We also took a little time to shoot some casual photos. Thanks Ally and Lucus for being good sports and letting me do this for you.

How do you get a dog to smile? That is a great question... on this shoot we figured out that ducks are really great attention getters. This family was great to work with, they were patient and understanding. (Even when we had a few sprinkles) I hope they enjoyed the final outcome of the shoot and the process in between!! A few months ago I had the unique opportunity to do a shoot in the beautiful Colorado Mountains. Not only did I have the chance to be in Colorado I also got to photograph some of my favorite people. Meet Ryan and Morgan, both live in in Colorado and go to school at CU. They will be getting married next September and asked if I would do a save the date shoot for them. I was more than happy to do it!! (You can obviously see that Morgan is a gorgeous girl and that Ryan fellow is kinda handsome as well.) He is actually my brother-in-law, which means these two are family. We had a lot of fun taking these photos and I am excited to be a part of the wedding next year!

Have you ever had an image in your mind...

a clear distinct vision of something you want to create? I have had this special idea in my head for many years now.

I have alway wanted to take a couple to Lagoon and set up this photographic story of how this couple is dating and just so in love. I guess you could call me a hopeless romantic or something, but I loved the movies where the boy takes the girl to the fair and wins her a huge stuffed animal. I couldn't help but smile at how they would go on the rides together and be so in love that everyone around them just fades into the background. Well this image finally came to life when this great couple heard about my vision and wanted it to be them in the images. Meet Kolbi and Sean... a couple truly in love. This sweet little girl was born right after taking her moms maternity photos. Well, not right after but later that night. She was early but did great. We had to schedule her shoot a little later because I was gone traveling. I loved her plump little legs and full cheeks. What a sweetie!!! Congrats Asper Family.

It has been awhile since I posted last. I have been traveling the Western States and would love to share a few images from my trip. There is something about nature and the beauty of it. If you haven't had the chance to be outside much... just take 5 minutes to go out and breath the air. Look around and notice the colors... the details... the bigger picture. I am not the artist here, I only capture the image the artist paints. I am thankful there is a God who created such beauty to remind us that we are loved.

I did pictures for this cute little family around Christmas time. I can't believe that the little family of 3 is soon going to be 4!! Not only that but they are expecting a little girl to join the family any day now. These guys were troopers, willing to brave the hot Arizona day to get these great shots. I received an e-mail with this sweet message and these two pictures came to mind. About a year ago I went out with a few friends to do some photos, it was June in Utah. It rained almost every day that month. When we were out it started to downpour. I caught these images while trapped under an overpass. Now that I live in Arizona (at it is 114 degrees out) I have been missing the rain. I hope this message will bring a smile to your face, like it did to mine.

A little girl had been shopping with her Mom in WalMart. She must have been 6 years old, this beautiful red haired, freckle faced image of innocence.

It was pouring outside. The kind of rain that gushes over the top of rain gutters, so much in a hurry to hit the earth it has no time to flow down the spout.. We all stood there, under the awning, just inside the door of the WalMart.

We waited, some patiently, others irritated because nature messed up their hurried day.

I am always mesmerized by rainfall. I got lost in the sound and sight of the heavens washing away the dirt and dust of the world. Memories of running, splashing so carefree as a child came pouring in as a welcome reprieve from the worries of my day.

Her little voice was so sweet as it broke the hypnotic trance we were all caught in, 'Mom let's run through the rain,'

she said.

'What?' Mom asked.

'Let's run through the rain!' She repeated.

'No, honey. We'll wait until it slows down a bit,' Mom replied.

This young child waited a minute and repeated: 'Mom, let's run through the rain..'

'We'll get soaked if we do,' Mom said.

'No, we won't, Mom. That's not what you said this morning,' the young girl said as she tugged at her Mom's arm.

'This morning? When did I say we could run through the rain and not get wet?'

'Don't you remember? When you were talking to Daddy about his cancer, you said, ' If God can get us through this, He can get us through anything! ' '

The entire crowd stopped dead silent.. I swear you couldn't hear anything but the rain.. We all stood silently. No one left. Mom paused and thought for a moment about what she would say.

Now some would laugh it off and scold her for being silly. Some might even ignore what was said. But this was a moment of affirmation in a young child's life. A time when innocent trust can be nurtured so that it will bloom into faith.

'Honey, you are absolutely right. Let's run through the rain. If GOD let's us get wet, well maybe we just need washing,' Mom said.

Then off they ran. We all stood watching, smiling and laughing as they darted past the cars and yes, through the puddles. They got soaked.

They were followed by a few who screamed and laughed like children all the way to their cars. And yes, I did.

I ran. I got wet. I needed washing.

Circumstances or people can take away your material possessions, they can take away your money, and they can take away your health. But no one can ever take away your precious memories...So, don't forget to make time and take the opportunities to make memories everyday.

To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven.

I HOPE YOU STILL TAKE THE TIME TO RUN THROUGH THE RAIN.

I love having the chance to take photos at dream locations... often times I will find a location and think of all the type of shots we could set up and how cute it would be. I love it when I finally find the right couple that are willing to do the shoot. Nate and April were that couple!! I have been longing to do a shoot at this great burger place down here in AZ. Lenny's Burger has a great ambiance and really really great ice cream and shakes. It was sooo much fun to take it old school and edit the photos a little more vintage than I usually do. (I think it works well with the theme) Take a look for yourself and let me know what you think!!

I took a quick over night trip to Sedona this week. It was nice to see some color again. I have missed the cool mountain air as well as the rivers and trees. Sedona is so beautiful, I wish I would have had more time there. But I think I got some great images for what time I did have.

I love, love, love, it when seniors bring fun props to shoot with. Hannah did just that and brought a very special heirloom with her. She had mentioned that the hat was her grandmothers. Hannah use to put the hat on and play dress up and have tea. I was so happy she brought it to with her and that we were able to capture her amazing eyes with it. Seriously this girl has gorgeous eyes!!

Well I sure love my job. I know I say that a lot, but I really really mean it!! I forget sometimes how much fun it is to be a teenager and just enjoy being silly. As life turns out I get to be around some really awesome graduates, and that makes my life fun.

I wanted to switch things up a little and try some fun new shots that I have been looking forward to trying out. Being inspired by the beautiful desert surroundings here in AZ we decided to head out into a prickly patch of cacti at sunset and see what we came up with. I think we got some really awesome shots. (We even avoided getting poked by any plants BONUS!!!) Thanks for playing Erika. You're beautiful girl!!!

{Puppy Love}

Well if any of you have had a chance to explore my site you might find there is a link that says animals under the gallery tab... but there aren't any pictures up yet. It's not that I don't have photos of animals, I just can't make up my mind on what ones to put up. I love ducks and horses, cows, dogs, cats, and even fish. (not to mention a bunch of other animals) After today there will be photos in that section so go check them out!!!

- So being on the subject of animals I would like to share with you my new favorite puppy. My sister and her husband have been looking into getting a dog for a very long time and finally they were able to bring this "little" guy home. His name is Snoop and he is an English Bulldog. He was a lot of fun to spend time with. He had an interesting time taking pictures with me. He thought that the camera was a toy and tried to chew it up a few times. But all in all we captured the true nature of Snoop and his playfulness.

This is his look he gives when he wants to be picked up and held. How cute is that... it is sooo the puppy dog face!!

{Boston Boy}

So I have to take a second to brag a little about my husband Scott. He seriously is amazing and I can't believe I married an awesome man like him. Scott is the type of guy that puts his mind to something and some how, some way, makes it happen. One of the things that won me over with him when we first met was his ambition and drive.

Some of the goals on his list included, getting married to me, getting into medical school, running a marathon, and participating in an Iron Man. Well we started off on one of the goals rather quickly and got married. Then he got accepted into medical school and before we moved he ran his first marathon. Not only did he complete the marathon but he took 3rd in his age group and to our shock he also qualified for the Boston Marathon!!!

So yesterday my manly man of a husband ran the Boston Marathon. Keep in mind he has been in medical school for almost a year now and has not had a lot of time to train. On top of all of that he injured his knee about a month ago and has not been able to run at all since then. But on marathon day he worked it out and crossed that finish line at 3:17!! I am one proud wife.

We took these fun photos right after he had ran 26.2 miles. We tried to capture the story of the marathoner.

PS- He is scheduled to do the Iron Man this summer in California!!!

These guys are just so much fun!!! Mike and I knew each other from high school and use to hang out with the same group of friends. Luck for Mike he found a great girl like Julia to settle down with and they are now enjoying the married life.

I knew that this couple would be up for something a little different from the norm so we tried out this little ditty. I think it turned out really awesome. Thanks for the chance to catch up guys!! Enjoy the results.

Here is another Utah Photo Shoot Post!!!

Can you imagine my shock and horror when I walked outside the night of April 5th to see a huge blizzard covering everything. I had a whole bunch of photo shoots scheduled for that week and none of them involved a winter wonder land. In fact I had one family who was looking forward to a sunset shoot on a beach with bare feet and sun dresses!! Lucky for me the snow started to melt midway in the week. It was still fairly cold even though the snow was gone on Friday night. But this family wasn't going to let a little cold stop them from having a great adventure.

This location held special significance to the family because this is where the proposal happened, this is where the bridals were taken, and this is where the kids would get to take part in completing that special circle of love.

And oh man did we have a great time!! Thank you for your ideas and your courage to go out in the cold. I hope we captured the wonderful feeling of your family that night. You guys are tough cookies.

This girl has it going on!!! I was a little worried when it snowed a whole bunch on Monday night. (I think it was around 7 inches at my parents house.) I thought, how much fun can senior pictures be when it is freezing outside and snow everywhere? But lucky for me Karli knew exactly how to have fun and show her stuff no matter the weather. She has such amazing eyes the camera seriously loved them. We hit up a few different locations and just had a blast being silly and sassy. I loved one of the locations soo much that I asked her to take a picture of me. :) I seriously love my job!!!!! There were so many great pictures I could hardly choose my favorite, and that is always a good thing.

Thanks again Karli for the awesome day, I hope graduation is just as fun.

I took pictures of this little guy a few weeks after he was born. Now this little guy is almost one and I can't even believe how big he has gotten. It was so much fun to see his personality and hear him giggle and laugh at so many things. I love his big blue eyes and used the opportunity to try out my new dark blue earflap hat to match!! (Since it was a little cold out, going from 88 degrees in Arizona to 6 inches of fresh snow in Utah, YUCK!!) Unfortunately the idea came to me at the end of the shoot and Judge just wasn't in the mood to sit any longer. I thought his cry face was really cute though. Hope you guys enjoy the photos, I sure enjoyed working with you again.

Some days being a photographer is just awesome. Saturday just happened to be one of those days. The weather was so beautiful and the family I was working with was just as wonderful. We all headed out to Mesa where we met at the LDS Temple grounds. What a great location for some really nice colors and backgrounds. It was fun to spend some time getting to know this family and having a few good laughs every now and then. Thank you for spending part of your day with me. I hope you all enjoy the end results of our day together.

Okay... I did a shoot last Saturday for a wonderful lady who is sooo incredibly beautiful and pregnant to boot. She took me to the most amazing location and it was seriously a photographers dream!!! No joke it looked like something out of Pottery Barn and Better Homes and Gardens. I had such a good time and enjoyed the creativity that was brought to the shoot by the mother-to-be. I just love having a day like that, where everything goes great. Thanks again for letting me shoot your cute belly!! Hope all goes well for you and your new little family.

My great friend Kristen invited me to go with her to a group meeting. A bunch of women photographers in Arizona came to this little farm looking place and happily snapped pictures of each others kids. It had nice little areas with lots of little hidden treasures. We enjoyed our time but had to leave quickly because it started to rain.

Babies are my favorite models. No matter what they are doing it is usually cute or funny. Please contact me to set up a shoot if you are expecting a new addition to your family. Typically it is best to do your session in the first 2 weeks after birth. I come to your home to make you feel as comfortable as possible, or you are welcome to visit my home as well. Fees for a session are as follows:

$75 Per Hour

$100 for copyright disc of all images

includes 10 edited pictures of the photographer's favorites, as well as your favorite 10.

With toddlers and kids you never know what is coming next. It might be a sudden burst of energy, maybe a few tears, and maybe even the funniest thing you hear all day!! I like to capture kids as they are, not tell them what they should do. After all, you want to remember how they were at that age... not how you "wish" they were at that age.
